Railfanning the Stevenson/Bridgeport Area November 8, 2008

We made a little trip to Northeast Alabama to check out some Fall colors on the weekend of November 8, 2008. The colors were there but the trains weren't agreeing with us! Have you ever had one of those railfanning days where it seems you were 30 seconds too late for every train you saw or that nearly every photo you could get was in bad light? Sometimes as railfans, we have to just take what we can get and make the best of it! The traffic was brisk on the CSX J-line (Chattanooga Subdivision) but we only managed a handful of photos and one video clip. There is always next time! Hope you enjoy the photos and video clip!

Our first photo of the day was CSX train Q127 near Midway between Stevenson and Widows Creek. The crew had their train stopped behind another southbound train waiting to enter Widows Creek yard.

We spotted a string of these loaded AEX hoppers in the CSX yard in Bridgeport. I wonder if these are related to the operations at the US Gypsum plant in Bridgeport.
